One day while at a surf festival in Biarriz, I looked down at my feet. A thought crossed my mind. Wouldn't it be great to turn my espadrilles into easy going, leather-free boots to wear barefooted in the summer?

The search began for a classic espadrille enhanced into a casual boot.  It lasted several months but nothing was found. Then I thought about creating them myself. I cut my old espadrilles into pieces and created a model. It started with a set of samples for my circle of friends. Then it grew into a small, eco friendly, vegan shoe line.

Today all Cumins are handmade in Spain by a footwear company specializing in Espadrilles, with more than 25 years of experience. They are ethically produced from start to finish.  No leather or other animal by-products are used from the cotton canvas, to the jute, to the fully coated rubber sole. They are made of all natural fibers and high quality materials from Spain and Italy. The finishing touches are still done in a traditional way by artisans at home. 

Cumins feel fantastic whether you wear them over your bare feet or with stockings. They are always a perfect match to any style from morning to night. I hope you have as much fun wearing them as I did creating them, Vanessa
